Exercise in state-of-the-art fitness centers or get outdoors on our miles of bike paths. Recreation and Wellness offers everything from intramural sports to outdoor recreation and group fitness programs.
You can join a Zumba or yoga class, try out rock climbing, swim some laps, or rent gear to go skiing or canoeing. There’s also all kinds of cardio and strength training equipment, from ellipticals and spin bikes to squat racks and free weights, plus basketball, tennis, and racquetball courts.
The University of Minnesota prioritizes the safety of our students, faculty, and staff through state-of-the-art safety precautions, including real-time safety alerts via text message, alarm buttons and emergency phones located throughout campus, and security and police escorts available to students who walk and bike on campus and in surrounding neighborhoods—just call 612-624-WALK. Parking facilities, skyways, and tunnels are also monitored 24 hours a day with the aid of security cameras.
